Understanding the  three plus Rule

A new home. New people. New routines. A whole new world.

Bringing home a rescue dog is exciting, but remember that while you've been preparing for their arrival, your new companion is still trying to understand what has happened to their world.

The 3-3-3 Rule is a helpful guideline for understanding how dogs may adjust to a new home. Every dog is different, and some may need more or less time. The most important things you can offer are patience, consistency, and love.

Potty Training: Setting Your New Dog Up for Success

Consistency is key, and a good routine makes all the difference!
Whether you're bringing home a young puppy or an adult rescue dog, potty training is an important part of adjusting to a new home. Even dogs who were previously house-trained may have accidents while learning a new environment and routine.
Puppies Need Frequent Potty Breaks!
During the first few weeks, puppies should be taken outside at least every 1–2 hours while you're home. Very young puppies may need to go even more frequently.
Don't wait for your puppy to tell you they need to go! Establishing a consistent schedule helps prevent accidents and teaches them where they are supposed to potty.

Socialization: Building Confidence at Every Age

Socialization is more than making friends. It's about building confidence, trust, and positive experiences!
Whether you've adopted a young puppy or an adult dog, socialization plays an important role in helping your new companion navigate the world around them.
Proper socialization means introducing your dog to new experiences in a safe, controlled, and positive way. The goal is not to make your dog love every person, dog, or situation. The goal is to help them feel comfortable, confident, and secure.
