Gordo is the kind of dog who just needs a little reassurance and love to fully shine. He loves eating when someone is sitting with him. Couch potato, would love a set of pitty pajamas and someone to give him all the booty scratches he needs. He is fully vetted and heartworm negative.

"I’ve been following Second Chance Dog Rescue for over two years now. My daughter did a dog rescue/adopt birthday party to raise supplies, food, and money for their amazing organization last year. They were so grateful and appreciative of her hard work and the donations made. The facility is clean, organized, and all the staff/volunteers are so kind. The dogs there are happy! We are in the process of getting one of their rescues right now. Most adoption centers are just looking to clear out their facilities quickly with a low adoption fee, but SCDR is very different. Their application/interview process is thorough and honest. They are looking for true pet lovers who realize the work and dedication it takes to raise an animal. The last thing SCDR wants is for one of their dogs to live in bad situation or get returned because the family was not ready for that responsibility. They check homes for living conditions and charge a higher adoption fee to discourage people that are not serious about the process. I can’t wait for my kids to meet their new fur baby! "I can’t thank Second Chance Rescue Mansfield enough! I highly recommend them! They are a great organization who love the animals in their care and want the best homes for them! I was introduced to my Maggie through them, who I adopted in September of 2024 when she was 7 months old. The process was so smooth and took less than a week. Upon meeting Maggie I got to take her home same day. She’s now 1.5 years old and she’s the best, sweetest dog and I couldn’t be happier that I went through this amazing rescue!!!"

"We went by Second Chance Rescue on a Saturday (March 7) and wanted to see what they had. Elisabeth was showing us this dog and this little guy in the crate behind us was pawing at my husband. He asked could we meet him? She said sure this is Bandit (Rocky is his name now) and we were in love. We found out Rocky came from a hoarding situation with over a hundred other dogs. We brought him home and it’s been right at a month. He is doing great and they gave us everything we needed for him at first. We will definitely being going back to them. This was the Best experience for rescuing a dog."

I was super impressed by how clean the facility was, and how obviously well cared for the animals are. And there’s lots of land around the facility that they take the dogs walks on. "I adopted my puppy from Second Chance dog rescue on April 3 . She is a six month old rat terrier mix and she is absolutely adorable! As soon as I saw her profile, I knew that I wanted her. I picked her up from Mandi the Assistant Director. I obviously don’t know Mandi well but it’s very clear. She has a huge heart for the dogs, cats and the rescue. I know all of the other volunteers due too! their facility is clean and well kept and they operate on donations alone. If you are looking for a place to volunteer, donate or best of all adopt a new dog or cat I highly recommend Second Chance rescue!"
